Important Announcement for Conference Participants: Special Issue Publication Opportunity!

We are excited to announce that the prestigious journal Science of The Total Environment, published by Elsevier (Impact Factor 9.8), is interested in publishing a special issue titled "Advances, Applications, and Approaches of the use of Chironomidae in Aquatic Ecology: Special issue of the 22nd International Symposium on Chironomidae." This special issue will feature papers presented at the 22nd International Symposium on Chironomidae, which took place at the University of Niš, Serbia, from June 17-19, 2024.

The special issue will focus on new advances, applications, and approaches related to the use of chironomids in aquatic ecology. This is a unique opportunity for conference participants to contribute their research to a high-impact publication and showcase their work to a global audience.

We encourage all presenters to consider submitting their work for this special issue. Further details on submission guidelines and deadlines will be provided soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

*This registration fee is also available for retired professors and researchers, as well as participants from low-Income and lower-middle-income countries.

Оne registration fee covers up to two abstracts (one oral and one poster presentation, two oral presentations, or two posters).

The registration fee does not include accommodation, travel expenses and personal insurance. We will provide support with your travel needs, and we are currently in discussions with hotels to secure discounted rates for accommodations in the city center, close to the conference venue.

1. Morpho & Molecular ID
Explore the newest methods for morphological and molecular analysis, including traditional and geometric morphometrics of external and internal organs, and histological preparations of chironomids. Students will gain hands-on experience in microdissection, slide preparation, DNA isolation, and further analysis of barcodes of chironomidae.

2. Chironomids in Ecotoxicology
Students will learn biomarkers analysis, how chironomids are reared in labs, and how to conduct experiments according to OECD protocols. Gain practical skills in investigating genotoxicity, oxidative stress, and other novel biomarke

3. Midnight School of Numerical Ecology in R
Students will learn statistical analysis, coding in R, and using R studio for research. Gain essential skills for ecological data analysis.
